Bhowsa "It's our Village!"

 It always give immense pleasure, going to village. After finishing every semester, far at India, I use to visit Bhowsa; the place where my Grand parents and Dad grown up. It is so lovely place to visit, specially during monsoon. Standing at one hill and looking far ranges of hills will definitely, gives you immense pleasure. People are so lovely and warm. When you see the small kids over there... you'll feel as take one with you. They are damn so cute!!!

When it's monsoon, you will see clouds like fogs, between the hills... It will feel like you are above cloud or heaven! lol

Dhaka Topi (Nepali-Cap)

It is something special for all the Nepalis. The topi signifies head held high as the Mt. Everest, bold as the Himalayas, colourful as Nepal's national bird Danphe. Hence, it is the pride of Nepal that incorporates much of its beauty. 

 It is worn by all the people around the country. It is considered as luck to keep it in your head in all occasions and is usually only taken off when there is sorrow in the family. Dhaka topis are also given away as gifts during Dashain, Tihar and many other festivals.

Dhaka Topi's are still very common today with endless variations of colors and ancient patterns depending on the current fashions trends in Nepal. The fabrics themselves can vary greatly from smartly woven patterns using thick colorful wool threads to printed patterns on cotton.

They are commonly worn by males of all ages in Nepal and are worn for all special occasions or for no occasion at all. So, it can also be wore casually which suits with any kinds of dress up.

Ethnic Day at Acharya College

After wearing college uniform for long, it's Colourful day again!!
Today was the Ethnic Day at Acharya Institute of Technology.

It is being said that Acharya is the college which have students from 25 different countries all around the world. Quite impressive! But when all these students gather in college compound in their own ethnic wear, just imagine, how colourful will it looks
And yeah, it was quite amazing out there...

Holi: The festival of Colour

Holi is a spring festival also known as the festival of colours & love. It is celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun which is the month of March as per the Gregorian calendar. Though it is related with religious concept, people celebrate this festival to forget all the pain & stress of life involve in colourful day. It is the day where all family members gather together and wish each other.

Preparations:

"Entire country wears a festive look when it is time for Holi celebration. Market places get abuzz with activity as frenzied shoppers start making preparations for the festival. Heaps of various hues of gulal and abeer can be seen on the roadside days before the festival. Pichkaris in innovative and modern design too come up every year to lure the children who wish to collect them as Holi memorabilia and of course, to drench everybody in the town.

Womenfolk too start making early preparations for the holi festival as they cook loads of gujiya, mathri and papri for the family and also for the relatives. At some places specially in the north women also make papads and potato chips at this time." - source: http://www.holifestival.org

The Water Ballon, Colourful powders, Water Guns (pichekari), Bhang, musics are the few attractive ingredients of this fest.

The Layers of hills

It's a place in Nepal, where you will get to see lots of small houses on ranges of hills, green forest, deep blue running water, and mostly the lovely people.

One can drive to this place from Kathmandu within few hours whether by local bus or bike. The cool breeze blowing on your face will give you the sensation of pleasure.

One can see the ranges of mountains, as well as the hills besides hills...

DOKO:

"Doko" is something I believe most people are aware of. It is still extensively used to physically transport  woods, water (obviously by keeping a vessel filled with water in the DOKO), kids to school and even patients in remote parts of Nepal where transport system is not readily available. It is made up of bamboo cut into long straps and joined together. It is also used in Kathmandu and other cities especially to carry materials for building house like sand, bricks etc. The above picture is the actual "Doko" and the rope like thing on the ground is the "Namlo" which is a head strap which goes around the head and helps people carry weight on their back. It is usually made up of rope. Since it is hard and rough on the forehead a soft cloth is used to decrease the pressure.

The Sun-kosi has the great advantage of having a Put-in close to Kathmandu. You could expect the bus to take about three hours which is ideal to unpack, have lunch and depart at the start of the afternoon.

Giant ELEPHANT

It's Millipedes!

Millipedes are herbivores. It does not really have 1,000 legs! In fact millipedes can only have up to 710 legs. The centipede only has one pair of legs per body segment.
